The role of genetics in autism
Genetics play a significant role in the development of autism. 
Research has shown that autism tends to run in families, and that individuals with a parent or sibling with autism are at higher risk of developing the condition themselves.

The specific genes that are associated with autism are still being identified, but it is thought that multiple genes may be involved in the development of the condition. 

Some of the genes that have been identified as being potentially associated with autism include:

  1. Chromosome 15: This chromosome has been linked to autism in some studies.

  2. PTEN: This gene has been associated with increased risk of autism in some studies.

  3. SHANK3: Mutations in this gene have been associated with increased risk of autism in some studies.

  4. CDH10: Mutations in this gene have been associated with increased risk of autism in some studies.

It is important to note that genetics is only one factor in the development of autism. 

Environmental and other factors may also play a role in the development of the condition. 

It is currently not possible to predict with certainty who will develop autism based on genetic risk factors.
