After Immunization care

Observe your baby: Keep an eye on your baby for the first few hours after their immunization to watch for any signs of a reaction or side effects, such as fever, fussiness, or swelling at the injection site.

Offer plenty of fluids: Make sure your baby is getting enough fluids to stay hydrated, especially if they have a fever. If you are breastfeeding, offer your baby the breast more frequently. If your baby is formula-fed, offer them extra formula or water between feeds.

Use a cold compress: If your baby has pain or swelling at the injection site, you can use a cold compress to help reduce discomfort. Use a damp cloth or a cold gel pack wrapped in a towel and apply it to the injection site for a few minutes at a time.

Give infant pain relief medication: If your baby is experiencing discomfort or has a fever, you can give them infant pain relief medication such as infant acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil). Always follow the dosage instructions on the label or as directed by your healthcare provider.

Comfort your baby: Hold your baby, talk to them, and offer comfort to help them feel better. Skin-to-skin contact can be particularly soothing for infants.

Watch for signs of a severe reaction: Although severe reactions to immunizations are rare, it is important to watch for signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling of the face or throat. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
