What age should you switch to convertible car seat?
Convertible car seats are designed to accommodate children as they grow, and can be used both rear-facing and forward-facing. As a general rule, it is recommended that children remain in a rear-facing car seat for as long as possible, up to the limits of the car seat.
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that infants and toddlers should be placed in rear-facing car seats until they are at least 2 years old or until they reach the highest weight or height allowed by the car seat manufacturer. After this point, they can be switched to a forward-facing car seat with a harness until they reach the highest weight or height allowed by the car seat manufacturer.
