What causes a woman to give birth before time?
Preterm birth, or giving birth before the 37th week of pregnancy, can have various causes, some of which are still not fully understood. 
However, some common risk factors for preterm birth include:

  1. Previous preterm birth: Women who have previously given birth prematurely are at a higher risk of doing so again.

  2. Multiple pregnancies: Women carrying twins, triplets, or more are at a higher risk of preterm birth.

  3. Infections: Infections of the genital tract, urinary tract, or other parts of the body can trigger premature labor.

  4. Chronic medical conditions: Women with conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or thyroid disorders are at a higher risk of preterm birth.

  5. Lifestyle factors: Smoking, alcohol and drug use, poor nutrition, and stress can all contribute to premature birth.

  6. Cervical incompetence: A condition where the cervix opens too early in pregnancy, increasing the risk of premature birth.

  7. Fetal abnormalities: Certain fetal abnormalities or genetic conditions can lead to preterm labor and delivery.
